Partnership Development
Frontier Produce, Inc. Established a partnership to receive monthly produce donations to allow for sharing of a healthy sampling of an easy healthy recipe at produce giveaways in the Northeast portion of Oklahoma area reaching over 1000 people each month at a variety of community outreach events.
1st Step Male Diversion Program. Established a partnership to create a gardening and nutrition education project to address mental health and addiction healing for the men as they navigate learning new behaviors to change the direction of the path their lives was heading.
Oklahoma Department of Human Service, Permanency Placement, Child Welfare Department. Established a referral process to assist parents with gaining parenting skills to work towards returned custody.
Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. Established a referral process to assist patients with health issues relating to nutrition intake as well as collaborating to provide nutrition education at local schools in partnership with Dr. Colony Fugate, Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, Project Lead, Pediatric Obesity Medicine ECHO, Director, Pediatric Clinical Research George Kaiser Family Foundation Endowed Chair for Pediatrics.
Community Care Connections. Provided a presentation during their 2025 Employee Wellness Fest on healthy quick food preparation which led to an established referral process as a first step approach to work with patients who have health issues relating to nutritional intake.
Tulsa Boys Home. Collaborated to provide nutrition education and food preparation training to improve knowledge, skills, and food security with the youth. As well as opened the door for financial literacy classes and agricultural presentations to be invited in.
Arise Single Moms. Was invited to provided a presentation during their 2024 Thrive conference focusing on healthy quick meal preparation.
Cherokee Nation. Collaborated for space to house an OSU Extension staff member to provide nutrition education in the southern portion of Rogers County, OK.
Urban Strategies Inc. Collaborated to provide nutrition education to help build a sense of community among residents at two separate housing apartments in North Tulsa as they underwent renovations and the residents relocated to temporary housing.
Langston University. Collaborated to allow for the highlighting of three land grant universities (Langston; OSU; and the College of the Muscogee Nation) for a conference focused on STEM, Workforce & Paid Apprenticeships in underserved communities.
Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Collaborated with the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma to establish a referral process for nutrition education to OSU Extension CNEP as the Food Bank transitioned focus to other outreach efforts.
American Heart Association of Oklahoma. Collaborated with the American Heart Association of Oklahoma to partner with OSU Extension on educational programming focused on improving blood pressure, nutrition security, tobacco cessation, community readiness and AED use.
Food on the Move-Tulsa. Collaborated with Food on the Move Tulsa to provide nutrition education at food distribution locations each month as well as for students at Monroe Demonstration Academy, Tulsa, OK.
Turtle Island Tales. Collaborated with the Center for American Indian and Rural Health Equity (CAIRHE). Montana State University to provide home-based materials promoting family wellness for American Indian families with young children based on the seven grandfather teachings and the wisdom of our many grandmother advisers.
South Dakota Department of Education, Farm to School. Collaborated to provide the SDSU Extension Pick it! Try it! Like it! resources as their primary educational effort in all schools through the use of lesson plans and food service staff to participate in activities to highlight the produce of the month.
Trailhead Institute Partnership Sustainability Group. Was invited to participate in sharing how community-based participatory research is effective. Assisted in the development of a policy and best practice of building relationships and community partnerships.
Dakota Ministry Association. Collaborated to provide faith-based nutrition and physical activity outreach efforts to improve health and wellness. SDSU Extension provided nutrition and physical activity education and recommendations for sustainability of policy changes in partnership with faith-based designated lay leaders.
Peter Lengkeek, Crow Creek Tribal Chairman. Collaborated to provide translation of SDSU Extension produce resources to include translation into Dakota language. Expansion of this resource includes additional Indigenous and Native American focused produce, translation into Dakota, along with traditional perspectives included.
Rapid City Summer Meals Program. Rapid City, SD. Collaborated to provide nutrition and physical activity education as part of a mobile summer meals outreach. Nutrition education provided to participants at five summer meal locations followed by pop-up play activities in Rapid City in partnership with the Rapid City Public Schools.
United Way, Yankton County, SD. Collaborated to leverage funding to increase expansion of efforts to address hunger initiatives in Yankton County, South Dakota.
The Club for Boys, Rapid City, SD. Collaborated to provide nutrition education and food preparation for smaller groups of boys while The Club for Boys provided ingredients for recipes as part of the weekend Backpack Program to improve knowledge, skills and food security with the youth and their families.
South Dakota State University/Dakota State University, Master’s in Public Health Program service learning project. Provided a networking opportunity for student service-learning hours under the supervision of SDSU Extension within the communities to see alternative perspectives of communities and needs addressed through collaboration and creative partnerships outside of a clinical environment.
South Dakota Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Clinics. Coordinated a state-wide agreement that attendance at an SDSU Extension nutrition education outreach qualified as a nutrition education requirement for benefits under the South Dakota Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Clinics for clients in low risk categories allowing WIC Dietitians to focus attention for those with diet restrictions.
Heartland House, Sioux Falls, SD. Collaborated to provide nutrition education as part of a transition program/halfway house for recently released State Prison Inmates working to transition into a positive role in society and ability for increasing potential of family reunion success.
Partnership for Native American Communities, Rapid City, SD. Collaborated to provide food preservation education as part of a mobile nutrition outreach effort in the Pine Ridge, Rosebud, and Cheyenne River Indian Reservations. SDSU Extension provided nutrition education on food preservation techniques while the Partnership for Native American Communities provided food preservation resources to participants.
